The Reasons Why
Become a Keen Observer
- Becoming a keen listener and observer is the foundation of the art of awareness
- Observation is a joyful, engaging, and intellectually stimulating experience
- When you see your primary role as an educator as closely observing children and communicating what you see, you will find yourself surrounded by learning encounters
- By becoming a keen observer you’ll learn about child development, discover new curriculum ideas, and gain information for developing strategies for your group
Emergent Curriculum
Observing not only what children are doing and playing but how they are using materials, what they are saying as they are playing and documenting the process of learning that is taking place during play. These observations assist educators in developing responsive, observation-based curriculum that meets each child’s individual needs.
Inclusive Practice
- Describe adaptations that you might make to an activity or provocation so that it meets the different developmental and ability levels within the program
- Give examples of signage, equipment or changes that you might need to make in order for activities to be inclusive
- Making programs and early years experiences accessible to everyone
Inquiry-Based Teaching
